Our aim is not only to make you confident teaching in the classroom, swimming pool and ocean but to give you an understanding of how PADI courses are run and how you can plan these courses in the best way for the students and yourself. We will have a close look at each of the dive courses you will teach in the future to ensure that you have a full understanding of the skills and theory involved in each course.
As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI), you will be able to teach:

Pre-requisites
- PADI Divemaster or equivalent (Please contact us for more information on equivalent certifications)
- Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months
- Be at least 18 years old
- 60 logged dives (must have 100 logged dives before Instructor Examination) including documented experience in deep, night and navigation diving
- Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months.
- Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
At Sail Rock Divers we offer two individual learning programs, IDC “Classic” & IDC “Enhanced”
IDC “Classic” is a full 14 day in-house Course Director led IDC at Sail Rock Divers
IDC “Enhanced” is 8-days live online theory, followed by an 8 day in-water training course at Sail Rock Diver. This hybrid course structure offers the flexibility to complete your academic training remotely.

PADI Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI)
The EFR Instructor is a one-day course where we will cover the correct procedures and give you advice on how to independently run a PADI Emergency First Response Course. Once you have successfully completed the EFRI course you will be able to run the PADI EFR program anywhere.
Please Note: The EFRI certification is mandatory to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
PADI Instructor Examination
The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) takes place over two days after the IDC, led by an independent PADI examiner. During the IDC with Sail Rock Divers, you’ll gain all the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the IE with confidence. You’ll be tested on teaching in the classroom, confined water, and open water, as well as completing a rescue evaluation and demonstrating five skills from the PADI skill circuit.

Booking your IDC
To confirm your PADI Instructor Development Course date we will require a THB10,000 deposit of the course price together with the full payment of THB27,000 for your IDC CrewPack.
