First of all why in the last 3 years has the number of whale shark sightings at sail rock almost tripled? Where do they go, when they leave sail rock, do they head to the South China Sea or are they moving further into the gulf of Thailand? Why are maybe 70% of all sightings females, are they here to mate, give birth, socialize or just gorge themselves on the masses of plankton that accumulates here? Nearly all whale shark sightings are recording shark sizes between 3 and 5 meters, why aren’t we seeing the larger 6 to 10 meter sharks? The manta ray is also a plankton feeder, why are there no sighting (at the moment) of theses magnificent creatures?

If any one has answers to these questions please let us know so we can better understand the mysterious ways of the whale shark.

Sail Rock remains in my opinion the best place in the whole of Thailand to dive or snorkel with this massive shark.
